Minimalism - looks beautiful but completely unachievable! Magnolia walls and swirly carpets. Uncomfortable sofas and impractical furniture. Horror films and romance novels. Behaving myself and sitting still!
Eating and drinking with family and friends. Energetic colours and sunshine. Whisky - the more peaty the better! My warm bed on a frosty morning. Welcoming interiors filled with quirky artwork. Hot (peanut) buttered toast accompanied by a mug of strong black coffee.
I am at my most content when working with my hands, exploring the qualities of materials, designing and creating. In a world which is fast becoming more digital in so many aspects, I believe it is time again to appreciate true craftsmanship in all its forms.
I believe your home should reflect the best aspects of your personality and feel interesting and enticing to those you invite into your space.
At Blazing Rebel I aim to make art that will inject vibrant colour and texture into your home through my love of textiles and print.
I studied Silversmithing & Jewellery at the Glasgow School of Art, designing objects that were sculptural as well as functional and enjoyed exploring structure and space through metal.
More recently I have trained as a bookbinder where I rediscovered my love of paper and the written word. It has brought me back to to my roots of drawing, doodling and notetaking, and led me to explore other traditional crafts like letterpress and printmaking.
In my online shop you will find cards and prints along with a small selection of notebooks.
I am always designing and creating new work which will be added as soon as it's ready.
I would love to share the objects I make with you!
After graduating from The Glasgow School of Art in 2007 with a BA Hons in Silversmithing & Jewellery, I went on to do a postgraduate year at Bishopsland Educational Trust where I developed my skills in silversmithing and business.
This lead me to work with several prestigious silversmithing companies in London and the South of England where I was able to work in precious metals and explore design opportunities.
On my return to Glasgow I continued to design and make silverware alongside teaching jewellery making classes and working part time as a baker! Currently I am a bookbinder and Assistant Bindery Manager at Downie Allison Downie Bookbinders and using every spare minute to make my own pieces here at Blazing Rebel!
